“Flushing only toilet paper helps ensure that the toilets, plumbing, sewer systems and septic systems will continue working properly to safely manage our nation’s wastewater,” said the EPA statement.
Yes, that’s right, the nation’s plumbing is getting clogged up because paper towels, facial tissues, and wipes (even the ones that say they’re flushable) don’t disintegrate as fast as toilet paper. The result is that they ball up and get tangled up with other things in homeowners’ and public sewage pipes and form a clog.
