“Out of an abundance of caution, residents are asked to refrain from flushing or disposing of water into the wastewater system unless absolutely necessary, especially on the barrier islands: Clearwater Beach, Sand Key, and Island Estates. Not using the city’s sewer system will help keep it operational heading into the storm as long as possible,” according to the city’s website.

Clearwater is not the only Tampa Bay government worried about the water and sewer system. Considering the amount of rain we’re expected to get over the next couple of days, water and sewer systems everywhere will be under a massive strain.
