When you have – or think you have – a plumbing leak, call on the plumbing leak specialists at Billy the Sunshine Plumber.
Recently, you think you’ve been hearing the sound of water dripping somewhere in your home. You can’t find water pooling anywhere, but you’re worried anyway. Damp walls and other areas are mold magnets, and a drip can increase your water bill and with St. Pete water bills ready to increase, the last thing you want to do is pay for a leak.
You’re certainly right to be concerned. The Washington Post suggests several solutions to finding out if you have a drip and locating it. You’ve already done the first by looking for wet spots in the walls, cabinets, etc.
“Have you tried investigating each fixture separately? We would suggest starting with the sink, then trying to hear whether you hear the leaking. Next try that with the tub. Finally, we’d suggest seeing if the dripping also occurs when you flush the toilet,” the Post says. “If it happens with all three, there may be a bend in the drainage pipe from your bathroom and the leftover water in the piping ends up at that spot dripping within the pipe.”
If you don’t hear it from all three, you still might have a bend in the pipe somewhere else in your home. But if not, then the Post suggests you borrow, or rent, a moisture reader or infrared camera. Those are the items plumbers and home inspectors use to detect leaks without having to tear into walls.
Of course, rather than going to that extreme, you can make it easy on yourself and call the plumbing leak specialists at Billy the Sunshine Plumber to have them check for a leak.
