If you’re planning on getting a new toilet, the Tampa Bay plumbing experts at Billy the Sunshine Plumber will make sure your installation goes smoothly.

You’ve been wanting to upgrade your bathroom but you’re worried about the expense. If that’s the case, you might be interested to know that the Southwest Water Management District, or SWIFTMUD, has partnered with several Tampa Bay area governments to provide a rebate for homeowners who replace old, inefficient toilets with brand-new, high-efficiency water-saving toilets. Basically, the program will give qualifying homeowners up to $100 for the switch. SWIFTMUD pays part and the local government pays the rest. (Click here for a list of governments that participate in the program.)

St. Petersburg, which takes part in the program, limits its rebates to toilets that are EPA Water Sense-labelled high efficiency toilets. To gain that rating, toilets must meet strict performance standards and use 1.28 gallons or less of water per flush, which saves 20 percent more water than other low-volume toilets. The toilet you’re replacing must have been made before Jan. 1, 1995 since toilets made after that are all low flush. For other information about St. Pete’s high-efficiency toilet rebate program, click here.

Once you apply and are approved, you have 30 days to buy and install your new toilet and return the original, itemized purchase receipt to the rebate office. You also need to keep the old toilet on your property until after the inspection.

That’s where Billy the Sunshine Plumber comes in. Billy has been installing toilets and doing other Tampa Bay plumbing work for almost 100 years. Billy, or Billy Sunshine, was founded in 1924. Billy is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year for all your plumbing needs in Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties. No matter the plumbing need or time, Billy’s here for you.
