Most of Tampa Bay doesn’t have to worry about frozen pipes. But Bully the Sunshine Plumber can help if you do have plumbing problems.
Unless you’ve been under a very big rock recently, you know that major freezing weather is about to blanket most of the U.S. Those freezing temperatuers are also expected to reach the Tampa Bay area.
Fox13news.com sums it up: “Get ready for a weather roller coaster. Friday is one of those days when the high temperature will occur around midnight, and will then fall off a cliff by the afternoon.
“A freeze watch has been issued for most of the Bay Area between Saturday and Sunday. Hillsborough County, Polk County, Hardee County, Highlands County, coastal parts of Pasco County, and interior Manatee County could see temperatures as low as 31 degrees.
“A hard freeze watch was issued for interior Pasco County, Hernando County, and Citrus County could experience temperatures as low as 25 degrees this weekend.”
If you’ve been reading about the overall freeze you’ve probably also seen warnigns about frozen water pipes and you may be wondering if you have to worry about your pipes.
Probably not. To begin with, much of the Tampa Bay area isn’t supposed to get that cold. And, as clickorlando.com explains, “The highest chance for pipes to freeze will occur with those that are exposed and outdoors. Temperatures also typically needed to be below freezing for six or more hours to cause issues.”
The highest chance for these conditions will be in north Tampa Bay where a hard freeze watch is in effect.
Clickorlando.com adds, “If you are afraid of your outdoor pipes freezing, you can insulate them or leave a slow trickle to prevent them from freezing. The stream of water should be about the width of a pencil.
“Indoor pipes should be fine, but if you are concerned, keep the water running as a slow trickle as well. Opening up your sink cabinets will also allow the warmer air of your house to keep the pipes a little warmer.”
