If you have a clog or plumbing blockage that you can’t dislodge, it’s time to call the 24-hour plumbers at Billy the Sunshine Plumber. We’re here for you – even on Thanksgiving.
You’re not planning your traditional “big” Thanksgiving celebration this year. But you do want to make it special, so you’re heading to the Farm City Festival in Inverness tomorrow (Nov. 21). You figure the kids will get a kick out of the tractor parade and you’ll be able to pick up something special at the pavilion. You might even be able to find a couple of holiday gifts.
After that, you’ll run by the grocery store to get the turkey.
That all sounds grand. But a word of caution – with Thanksgiving dinner comes a lot of fat – butter, oils and other such for cooking and flavoring. And at the end of the day, you need to get rid of it. Just be sure to dump the fat in the trash, and not in your sink or other down any other drain. If you do, you’ll run the risk of causing a big, messy clog.
The city of Jacksonville knows all about clogs caused by grease and other non-flushables. The city recently had a sewage overflow of an estimated 432,000 gallons caused by a mix of grease and other debris, according to a story at firstcoastnews.com.
“Utility employees checking an area near Atrium Way northeast of the Regency Square mall on Tuesday discovered a ‘massive fatberg’ of coagulated grease and non-disposable items that had blocked a sewer line,” according to the story. “Pipe obstructions happen more frequently during cooler weather when fats congeal more, and they’re a chronic headache to utility crews who have to clean up for their customers. … The fatberg found Tuesday filled and blocked a manhole.”
If you’re thinking you can dump your grease and it will simply make its way into the city or county system where public employees will handle it, think again. The grease and other non-flushables could remain in your plumbing and cause a clog and even a backup. That’s not something you want at the best of times and you certainly don’t want to deal with it on a holiday.
But if you do have a blockage or other plumbing problem you can’t handle, you can get help – even on Thanksgiving – by calling the trusted plumbing specialists at Billy the Sunshine Plumber.
