POPULAR QUESTIONS

Main sewer line clogs can cause water to back up out of your drains or plumbing system.

These clogs often cause a gurgling sound to come from your drains. Other signs include your toilet water bubbling, water backing up from your tub or shower when you flush, or water bubbling from your faucets.

Sewer repair is a complicated and dirty job. While we are happy to offer tips on dealing with routine clogs, when it comes to your main sewer line, we recommend calling a professional plumber like Billy the Sunshine Plumber to come out and address the problem.

When your main drain line is clogged, water has nowhere to go but back up into your home. Here’s some clues that this may be a problem for you:

  • If you flush the toilet and the water backs up into the bathtub or shower drains
  • If you run the sink closest to the toilet for a minute and the toilet bubbles or the water level in the toilet rises.
  • If you use your washing machine and the toilet overflows or water backs up into the tub or shower.

The lateral sewer line is the sewer line that connects your home to the public sewer system. Sometimes this gets clogged and can cause the drains in your home to backup. Solving this is a complicated and messy process, so we don’t recommend addressing this yourself.  Billy the Sunshine plumber has trained professionals who know just how to fix this issue. Our equipment includes a pipe with a cap that provides access to the sewer line so that blockages can be removed. The sewer clean out is usually located somewhere along this lateral sewer line.
