Billy the Sunshine Plumber is open and here to help you with all your plumbing needs 24/7/365.

This past week was filled with good news. First, the Citrus County Commission voted to open all parks as of last Friday. That gives you plenty of places to go walking, jogging, biking, or just to get out of the house. The second bit of good news has to do with toilet paper. According to a story at finance.yahoo.com, the toilet paper shortage is easing up.

“Empty shelves were still a problem at nearly half of American grocery stores as of mid-April, but supplies were markedly more plentiful than they had been during the prior week, according to the consumer products data tracker NCSolutions,” according to the story. “About 48 percent of U.S. grocery stores were out of stock of toilet paper for some part of the day on April 19, the latest date for which figures were available. In comparison, out-of-stock shelves were prevalent at 73 percent of U.S. grocery stores one week earlier, on April 12, according to the data, provided exclusively to Reuters.”

That doesn’t mean if you run down to the nearest Publix today that you’ll be able to find toilet paper – unless you’re lucky. But it does mean that you should soon be able to find toilet paper on the shelves.

In the meantime, it’s wise to remember that you should not flush anything but toilet paper down the toilet. No personal wipes (no matter what the label says), no disinfectant wupes, no facial tissues, and no paper towels. Flushing those is a formula for creating a clog that, if you’re lucky, only stops up your toilet and can be cleared with a plunger. But if you’re very unlucky, the non-flushable paper will make its way into your plumbing/sewer system before causing a clog that’s could gum up your whole plumbing system and be a lot harder to get rid of.

If you do get a clog that you can’t clear by yourself – or if your drains are slow and need cleaning – you need to call a plumbing expert like the plumbing pros at Billy the Sunshine Plumber.
